As in developed countries, in Brazil, cancer is already the leading cause of death due to illness
among children and adolescents from 1 to 19 years. Parents should be alert to the fact that
children doesn’t invent symptoms and that at the sign of some abnormality, the child need to
be taken to the doctor to report the progression of the condition, which in most cases, the
symptoms are related to diseases that occur in childhood, but even so, the visit to a specialist
shouldn’t be discarded.
The National Cancer Institute warns for warning signs below:
- Vomiting accompanied of headaches;
- Understanding while walking;
- Irritability;
- Difficulty in moving;
- Pain in bones or joints;
- Sudden modification of skin color (generally pale);
- Frequent or persistent fever;
- Weight loss;
- Weakness;
- Bleeding in general;
- Frequent pain in belly;
- Numbers or nodules with quick growth and no pain, principally in the neck, axles or virils;
- Excessive night sweat;
- Toothache without caries;
- Purple stains in the body or pipelines;
- Nodules or spots on the skin that grow or change color;
- High pressure;
- Frequent secrecy by hearing;
- Sexual adult characteristics;
- Difficulties of energy or double vision;
- In the eyes: white pupila or cat eye reflex.
Early diagnosis increases the chances of cure without sequelae. In case of suspicion, seek medical attention!
